Two months ago our little family joined Meema and Buhpa (Michelle's parents), Grandpa Calvin (Michelle's grandpa Hill), and other family at Stephen (Michelle's cousin) and Whitney Hill's wedding here in Dallas. At the reception/dance party that evening, Michelle and her Grandpa Cal shared a special moment as they took a spin around the floor gracefully together. This was notable because in the hospital minutes after our accident 5 1/2 years ago Cal was the first person at her bedside and he promised her they would dance together again someday. This wedding was the fulfillment of that promise and it was beautiful to watch from the side.
A while into the evening, to advert the attention of a crazy running 2-year-old, Connie picked up Mackay and carried him onto the dance floor in her arms. At first he didn't know what was happening and then he figured it out real quick - girls have cooties and dancing spreads girl cooties like wildfire. He threw a huge fit. She flung him around spinning, sliding, gliding and scooting. He fish flopped and wiggled, begged and pleaded. She dipped and tangoed, held tight and swung out gracefully. He argued and fought, going so far as to implore merciful intervention by his Dad. (I was too busy taking pictures.) She loved every second of it and it was the longest three minutes of his life... ever. I believe it left an indelible mark on his little block of modeling clay.
So the other day Michelle and the boys were having a dinnertime conversation about eye color when Grandpa Hill's name came up. Brigham suddenly remembered mommy and Grandpa Hill and the dance they shared and went on to have a three minute conversation about all of the wedding memories. Mackay was sitting idly by eating his dinner until he spontaneously shot up on his chair and said,
"But Meemah loves to dance with you, Mackay."
"No DANCE me, Meemah! ... Go back your cabin!"

Aww your kids! I miss them! <3
That is amazing... and terribly funny!
HA! That is totally funny. Can't decide whose antics are the best? Meemah's persistence, or Mackay's resistance--and his memory of it all! Wow, funny story.
