I'm Lovin' It ...

I have two funny and quick stories I wanted to share about my boys and the drive-thru at McDonalds tonight. Now I don't go to McDonalds very often and I go through the drive thru even less. Usually we stop at McDonalds only when we travel so the boys can go in and play around before jumping back in the car--therefore, having two drive-thru stories in the matter of a few days is pretty stinkin' amazing.

The other night the boys and I were going through the drive thru in Clovis, NM, to get some milk and protein before bed. The windows were all rolled down because it was a nice evening and when we pulled up to the drive thru receiver Brigham saw all of the huge latte posters and immediately began yelling, "My mommy needs a coffee. Get my mom a coffee. She wants a coffee."

He went on and on for about a minute before I could get him to stop. I was laughing too hard to be able to talk to the drive-thru person and was relieved when I drove away without a coffee in tow. I am not quite sure why Brigham was so determined to get me a coffee because I am not a drinker, but I do appreciate him looking out for me and trying to take care of his mommy.

Tonight we all went to a class picnic for Adam's safety school at a nice park here on base. Kirtland's park was nice and other than the crazy wind, it was a fun evening. After dinner and cookies, the boys were playing over at the playground, which happens to be right next to a McDonalds. I was talking with some other moms and Adam was listening to some guys in his class play the guitar.

My positioning was strategic so that, although I was a little ways away, I could continue to keep a close eye on them and their activities, or so I thought. I watched them swinging and going down the slide. I then watched them run on the grass and climb on and off of the big rocks. They then wandered around for a bit, getting closer and closer to the gate which leads from the park to the McDonalds parking lot. I remember thinking, "I don't think they can open the gate."

The next thing I see is a little blond head running through the parking lot and over to the drive-thru receiver. I immediately take off running across the park and get to the gate to see Brigham holding on the gate trying to decide--to run or not to run???--and Calvin Mackay over at the receiver talking. I ran over to him in enough time to hear him saying into the receiver, "Me hungry. Briggie hungry. Me hungry."

Good times. Thanks for the laughs Ronald'a'Donalds. You put a smile on our faces.

That is just too cute!! I especially liked the initiative of little Brigham to go get his own food. He obviously knows that you get what you ask for when you talk into the receiver :)

it's amazing how fast the kids learn the meaning of those two golden arches. And I am glad you are out of the closet with the coffee drinking now ;)

Adam,

Just read your comment about kaelyn's cake and it made us laugh. You do have a point. I'm just glad you made it AFTER we ate the cake :)
