The two oldest are grounded. The other day Michelle and I were working in the garage and heard a crash in the living room. They'd been going at it all day so I was already cocked to think the worst, and there it was. They were on the ground and Mackay was pounding Brigham. BG has a big mouth and tends to say things that are very sharp. His ability to defend himself has not developed as quickly as his ability to talk. It was an ugly afternoon. I was more upset than I've ever been at them and they had an equally bad day. So now they are grounded. No tech for a week and they are my personal slaves.
This weekend I took them both to Roosevelt. We had to deliver Aunt Kellie's bookshelves so we borrowed Joe's trailer, drove them there, spent the night, jumped back in the truck and drove home. Kellie needed dropped off at the Utah Arts Festival downtown and we needed to get a load of compost from the dump. Then we went over to Uncle Jon's house and worked his garden. He is trying to turn a terrible plot of rocks into a garden and needed a little help screening the dirt, shovel by shovel and mixing in the organic materiel. Man, what a great way to ground kids; give them a shovel and a really dirty job to do! They worked hard but it made Jon and I turn to each other and wonder how the heck Dale did what he did with all of us. We were just as terrible and yet he had the patience of Job compared to what I was able to muster.
David on the other hand, we love David. So while the two older were working all weekend, Michelle took David on a one-on-one Mommy Date to Lagoon where he rode the Colossus 7 times. SEVEN TIMES! She had to tap out because he just kept running through the line as fast as he could. He was really cute about it all. Every seven year-old needs an experience like that with his mom.
Last night the Kristensen girls came over. We went to an ice cream social with the ward and then Michelle and the girls broke away to attend the Lehi Beauty Pageant. They had a great time and some guy even proposed to a contestant at the end of the pageant. When they all came home, the girls had a wonderful time demonstrating how the contestants were supposed to walk across the stage. Mackay actually did a pretty good job emulating it.
It is summer time and we are having a wonderful time. These are good days. Even if you don't get to play tech.
