sing it: M A C K A Y M O U S E...mackay mouse!!

We took a trip a couple of weeks ago.  The boys had never been to Disney and at 6, 5 and 1.9 we figured that this was a perfect opportunity.  I'm applying for a job in Sacramento so we took the really long way around and drove through there, then on to Monterey where we hung out with the Burkhardt's.  They took us to the Aquarium, we roasted marshmallows on the beach and generally just had a wonderful time.

Then it was time to head south and being that we were on vacation and had tons of time we decided to take the slow route drive down highway 1 along the coastline.  It was beautiful.  Gorgeous and impressive.  Until we hit a deer.  We were going 40 mph and had no time to swerve.  It messed up our van pretty badly and the deer even worse.  We ended up returning to Monterey and leaving the car at a body shop while we continued on with a rental van.  USAA is a great insurance company by the way.

The first day at Disney was cute because Michelle seemed to be the only one that was terribly anxious. The boys were all but indifferent because they just really had no idea what was awaiting them.  And then we got there...

When we got through the gate and all lined up for the magical morning (which apparently we were not supposed to be at but were anyway) they started seeing rides and characters and a sign that said--get this--Star Tours.  Our boys almost burst when they saw a Storm Trooper walking around.  We spent the next hour running circles on that ride.  Then we waited anxiously on the yellow line at the amphitheater for Jedi Training.  By some miraculous miracle of the force both older boys got picked to participate and each fought...and defeated the great Sith Lord Darth Maul.  It's tough to peak at such a young age.

We rode Monorails, took submarine rides, spun on tea cups, floated through world tours, took a log down a raging river, swam under cannon balls being fired by Pirates in the Caribbean, dodged a giant rock ball with Indiana Jones, met Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Pluto and shunned every princess that dared rear their beautiful heads at our boys.

We were exhausted by the time we returned.  Every second was worth it and it is something I personally will never forget, even when I have Alzheimer's, it was that good.

Oh, it is so fun to experience with kids! If you're driving through northern California again, give us a call. We live about 45 minutes from Sacramento! Too bad about the deer, though.
