Ghetto Booty Shaking in Gay Sailor Outfits

Michelle is nesting. I took the kids for a sunday drive so she could take a nap and when we get home she has busted out every box of 0-6 month clothes she could find. I walk into the downstairs living room and there are 10,000 onesies and every messed up gay sailer outfit that every well intended aunt, friend and acquaintance had ever given us strewn about the room.

I'm doing my best to protect this new boy but I think that if this is indeed our last babyboybradbury then he is going to be subjected to every single ugly outfit we own and the pictures to boot while he's young and defenseless and there's nothing I can do about it. She didn't dare make Brig look silly because he was our first and I was protective of my man-child. With Calvin Mackay however, she thought it was funny and every so often she'd slip him into one of those blue felt overall outfits that make old women ooh and awe about 'what a doll he is!'

With this next kid I just don't think that I'll be able to hold Michelle off -- the "make your child look like a really cute fool" flood gates are already opening.

I'm sorry son. I had no part in what is about to befall you.

So last night we did something really cool. My brother and commie-in-law had given us this great weekend getaway packages at the Homestead Resort in Midway as a house warming gift when we moved to Utah several months ago. We finally took them up on it and it was wicked awesome.

Yesterday afternoon as I was teeing up on the 3rd hole and staring straight into the backside of the Wasatch Mountains with the leaves turning a thousand shades of red and green bluegrass under my feet I stopped and said out loud, "This is why I'm so glad I moved back to Utah." I've missed my home and it's good to be here again. Thank you Aaron and G.

I wrote a post several weeks ago. It was a good one too and I'm sorry you never got to see it. It was mostly funny things that the boys said, and let me tell you, they are starting to come up with real zingers. I'm not sure what to do with this blog once they get old enough to type and write themselves. I prefer it to be a place where I can make biased observations about my children, while not allowing them the same privilege. I am mostly sure that I only want these boys to have limited access because it will always serve as a way for me to vent my love and frustration of/for them. Plus if I do it right I can terribly embarrass them with giving them any recourse. Until they outthink me. But that's impossible.

Brigham is really starting to read. It's pretty crazy. The kid can just see words and either recognize them or figure them out . This is a small miracle to watch. Being able to read is one of the greatest gifts a child can be given.

Mackay does a mean booty dance right now. I don't mean to be critical but it reminds me of a 1950's mechanical implement attached to the PTO shaft of a tractor--almost all of it a rigid up and down motion and not so much any fluid side to side. In Brasil I was often told that you had to "have it in the blood" if you were ever going to be able to samba. Some people did, others just didn't.

I did. Mackay doesn't.

I hope he gets sent to some place that doesn't require true booty shaking skills to be successful as a missionary, Like Holland or Des Moines, or he's just not going to cut it in the mission field. Maybe he'll get called to Preston Idaho, I mean Napoleon did well there...

I took Brig to his first BYU football game at Cougar Stadium on friday. He was a riot. The couple in front thought he was hilarious. They turned around about 30 times to see the expression on his face as he screamed out some of the shrillest, funniest, "Go BYU!" cheers in the stadium. He yelled non stop and mostly when nobody else was cheering. And he almost exclusively projected his volume and spit directly (and intentionally) into the ears of the people in front of us rather then above them like everyone else was doing. BYU beat Utah State on a marvelous 4th quarter come back. And then kind of stupidly, since people decided to take the field after the game, we went down there so Brig could run around on the grass for a while. I'll have to find the picture and post it for you. Go cougs. and suck it Utah, 0-2 in the Pac 10.2

TTFN I suppose.

I had no idea that #3 was coming! How exciting, no matter what outfits he'll be forced into. :) You make me miss Utah... we'll be making an appearance around Thanksgiving, hopefully we can make it that long.
