So Brig apparently has a crush on a little girl named Maya in his preschool class. I called last week on Skype and when I asked Brig to come talk to me he said, "I can't Dad. I have to make Maya a Valentines card." I wish we had a picture of that card, he wrote his name out using every single letter in Brigham; perhaps not in the standard order or spacial location but I'm sure she got the idea.
He asked his mother what he was supposed to do on Valentines Day and she said, "Well, it's a day when you tell your friends that you love them."
So the next day, Michelle takes the boys to school with Valentines presents for their classmates. After taking Calvin to his class she brings Brig to his. Brigham runs in and hangs his jacket up and immediately cute little Maya comes over to say hi. "Guess what Brigham, next week is my birthday!"
To which Brig replies,
"And next week is Valentines Day. And that's when you are supposed to tell your friends that you love them...
"So I wanted to say...
"umm...
"Hey, wanna go play trucks?!" And they ran off happily ever after.
Mom - "How was the play ground today?"
Brigham - "It was fun but Mackay didn't play at the end, he was on time-out the whole time for making bad choices." Totally threw his brother under the bus. Turns out Calvin had been flushing toilets with massive amounts of toilet paper in them.
A sitter at the YMCA missed seeing the boys since we canceled our membership there last month. So Miss Susie came by yesterday to see them for a little while. While getting in the car to go to a movie the boys began having a discussion about who liked Miss Susie more. Then it evolved to a question of who was prettier, Mommy or Miss Susie.
I'm gonna pause here and say that these are the sacrifices our family makes for freedom. You see, I am deployed I was unable to protect and instruct my boys, as their father, to shut their big yappers. Talking about girls in front of girls is always a lose-lose situation. I hope you enjoy that blanket of freedom you are wrapped in; it's lined with the stunted social development of my boys. Back to the story.
Mom-"so who's prettier Brig."
Brig-"I like you both the same" suck up
Mom-"How about you Mackay? Who is prettier?"
Mack just sat their looking cute with a guilty grin on his face, you know the one. Didn't say a
word.
Mom-"Well come on Mackay, who is prettier?"
Brigham-"Mackay didn't say anything because he's too busy eating his boogers."
Mackay-"That's because they're Yummy Yummy Yummy!"
After school Michelle asks Brigham, so who'd you play with today, JonJon or Maya?
Brig- "I played with Mackay." Sweet brothers.

These are priceless! And thanks for sacrificing your boys' social development for the sake of freedom. I'm sure they'll learn eventually. :)
I love your stories about the kids and your cute family. Those boys are HILLarious! (Grandpa Calvin will get that statement). I miss you guys so much and can hardly wait for MAY! Love you all, always... Grandma Susie
Great stories - thanks for sharing them with us! Someday I want my kids to play with your kids. I would like it even if they didn't ;)
